After having another lecture on presenting work we were told to go to the Herbert Gallery and find two pieces of work one we felt was a good way of exhibiting work and one where we didn’t think it would work.
The first photo is of shells and the background is a picture or a graphic idea of a sea. I felt this was an appropriate way to exhibit the shows as it gives an idea of where they come from, especially for younger children, visual aids like this in a museum or gallery add an extra dimension to a child’s learning.
The second photo I felt was less appropriate as even though the dress was created in the last decade you couldn’t get a feel of the ideas that lead to the person creating the dress. If it was in a setting of Victorian Britain or the 1950s in America you would get a different feel from the dress but a white background doesn’t leave many clues.
